Coopers Landing Info
Coopers' Park is located on the north side of False Creek on the downtown Vancouver peninsula and is bounded by the seawall, Marinaside Crescent, and Cooperage Way.
What was once home to the largest cooperage (barrel making facility) in the British Empire is now a four acre waterfront park featuring a basketball court, skateboard park, grass covered areas with on and off-leash dog parks, and childrens' playgrounds. Surrounding Coopers' Park are the four buildings of the Coopers' Lookout development: The Flagship, The Mariner, Coopers Lookout, and Coopers Pointe.
Amenities Around Coopers Landing
There are many great amenities around Coopers Landing and the main one being The Esprit Club - your own personal oasis where you can exercise, have fun, entertain, and relax.
On the main level you'll find a lap pool and jacuzzi along with a sauna and steam room. When it's time for your workout a fully equipped gym awaits you. With a multi-gym, free weights, treadmills, yoga mats, bikes, and ellipticals there's always an opportunity to get in shape. Several televisions situated throughout the club make the workouts feel even easier.
On the second level of the Esprit Club there are three private party rooms available for your booking. Pool, fooseball, and ping-pong tables, sofas, flat screen TVs, and a fully equipped kitchen await your party hosting ideas.
The basement of the Esprit Club is where the real fun begins. A two lane 10-pin, fully automated bowling alley is ready for action and when you're tired of that, there's a 28 person movie theatre in the room next door for viewing Blu-Ray movies or kicking back and watching the game on the big screen.
And last but not least, when you feel like taking in some fresh air, residents of the Coopers Living development get to enjoy the use of a fleet of kayaks, ready for your journey around the waters of False Creek and English Bay.
History of Coopers' Park
Prior to the official opening of Coopers' Park on October 25, 1997 the site was home to The Sweeney Cooperage. The Sweeney Cooperage moved to Vancouver in 1921 from Victoria, BC and was located at 49 Smythe Street (now spelled Smithe Street). A modern mill was built in 1948 and the cooperage remained operational until 1981, when the redevelopment of the False Creek industrial area for the construction of BC Place, the Cambie Street bridge, and preparations for Expo 86 put the wheels in motion for what we now know as Coopers' Park.
It's often hard to imagine that this picturesque setting was once surrounded by ship builders, lumber yards, log booms, and heavy industry. Today it is a place that everyone can enjoy whether you're sipping a coffee on the seawall, playing catch with the family dog, or watching your children play on the playground. Coopers Landing is truly a place that you'll love to call your home.
